Praxiteles

Praxitèle 746 — a cloche-hatted figure in profile, set in an Art Deco arch

Of Praxiteles of Athens, nothing remains. Not one marble anyone can say with certainty came from his hands. What museums show under his name are Roman copies: stone cut four centuries after his death, from his originals, by craftsmen who had never watched him work.

The name

So a studio that sells files is named after the man of whom only copies survive. That is not a flourish, it is the subject. When a thing duplicates in one click, its value stops resting on the object and moves to what is written around it: how many copies, for whom, with what right to do what. This entire site is built on that sentence.

The 746

The number comes from the company that publishes this site, Myrmidons 746. The Myrmidons were Achilles' soldiers, a small hard troop that had no need to be numerous. The comparison stops there, but it describes the pace well enough: few pieces, each one finished.

What comes out of here

Busts, creatures, full figures. Sculpted in Blender, textured in Substance, lit and checked in the engine where they will end up. No asset packs, no base mesh carried from one piece to the next: every volume starts empty.

Two catalogues, and why

The €80 Flash exists because nobody commits a thousand euros to a stranger. It costs little, ships within twenty-four hours, and hands over a complete piece to open: the .blend, the UVs, the rig, the licence. After that, the buyer knows what the work is worth. That is the only reason the vault opens with a Flash — not to manufacture desire, but because a one-of-a-kind piece sells once and is better sold to someone who knows what they are buying.

Who invoices

Sales are invoiced by Myrmidons 746, a SASU registered with the Clermont-Ferrand trade register. That is the name on the bank statement and on the invoice. The detail is in the legal notice.
